BIVAQ outdoor furniture: the perfect addition to summer entertainment
When it comes to alfresco living, nobody does it better than Southern European countries. On the shores of the Mediterranean, where the climate is mild and the days are longer, people truly know how to enjoy the open-air life. It’s no wonder that local furniture companies have felt challenged to experiment with forms, materials and colours to provide the outdoors with an essential dose of style and cool comfort.
One of Spain’s leading brands is none other than BIVAQ, a Barcelona-based company that has been investing in R&D, developing a profound know-how of the outdoor sector. Founded in 2003 by a young entrepreneur and a small team of committed professionals, the company has succeeded in positioning itself on the international design scene, where it currently plays a leading role in most of the more than 25 countries to where they export their products.
“From Barcelona, where we have our production site, we promote and export our outdoor philosophy, based on cool comfort and relaxed lifestyle, to the rest of the world,” says Alberto Compte, CEO at BIVAQ. “The company is extremely successful in Spain, but it is growing its presence overseas, where we export 60% of our production,” adds Alberto.
Fabulously stylish and hard-wearing, BIVAQ outdoor furniture and bespoke solutions have long been first choice for five-star hotels, spas and leisure complexes. “Leisure groups and luxury hotel chains know they are judged on the good looks and comfort of their terrace and poolside furniture, which is why they don’t compromise on it and choose BIVAQ,” explains Alberto.

Their client list is impressive too, including some of the most prominent names in the hospitality sector, such as Radisson, Gran Meliá, Four Seasons, Kempinski, Hyatt and the NH Collection, as well as a number of boutique hotels and luxury villas. Retail sales are also growing, and the company is widely distributed in Europe (Portugal, UK, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Austria) and America, mainly in the U.S.A. and in Mexico.
Simple lines and a clean, timeless design are differentiating attributes of BIVAQ’s outdoor ranges. “Garden, terraces, actually nature in general, can be considered as a refuge from stress and hectic modern lifestyles; it should offer a long-term perspective, a break from the impulse of the moment. Furniture plays a crucial role here, providing outdoors with adequate comfort, practicality and beauty,” explains Andrés Bluth, the Uruguayan, Barcelona-based industrial designer who has created some of the most iconic collections of the firm, including those featured in the newly-launched 2018 catalogue: Illa, Vint, Sit, Nak, Nak 65, Mood XL, Nude, Club, Dats.
Each collection stands out for its contemporary and timeless appeal, simplicity and the use of innovative, hard-wearing materials that provide endless options for customisation. The new catalogue includes modular seating systems, lounge furniture, dining sets, sun loungers, daybeds, deck chairs, bar stools and high tables and a new addition that beautifully complements outdoor lounging spaces at night: the ILLA fireplaces.
Having been designed to bring indoor comfort and style to outdoor spaces, BIVAQ’s collections embrace the idea of outdoor ‘rooms’, with details which vary to reflect personal tastes. Materials span from the aluminium frames and Dekton table tops to the iroko wood, painted glass and the acrylic and vinitex fabrics. Scatter cushions are also available to enhance comfort, complement sofas and armchairs and get a collected look.
Stay tuned over the next few days to learn more about the new 2018 collections…
