Orgatec 2026: Seniorcare brings warmth and design to care environments
Care environments have their own demands. Furniture needs to support the people who use it every day, while also helping professionals work comfortably and efficiently. At Orgatec 2026, Spanish company SENIORCARE will present CALA, an armchair collection designed by Alegre Design, alongside new lounge armchairs and sofas from WAVE, designed by ODOSDESIGN. Both collections bring together ergonomics, comfort and a warmer approach to healthcare and senior living interiors, each with its own distinctive design character.
For more than four decades, SENIORCARE has developed and manufactured furniture specifically for care homes, nursing homes, day centres and healthcare environments. The family business combines local production in Spain with close attention to materials, craftsmanship and functional details, working with designers to create furniture that stands up to intensive use without making these spaces feel institutional. Its collections reflect a commitment to quality and environmental responsibility, supported by management systems certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.

CALA Lounge Chair: comfort with a clear purpose
Some pieces of furniture have to do more than provide a place to sit. In a care environment, the way a chair supports movement, rest and everyday activities can make a real difference. CALA, designed by Alegre Design, was developed around this idea, combining a warm, carefully balanced appearance with features that respond to the practical needs of older people and those who care for them.

The collection includes different configurations, from low- and high-back versions to wingback, reclining and transport models. Depending on the version, features include a reclining backrest, elevating leg rest, footrest, castors and an integrated handle to make movement easier. Generously proportioned arms also help users to grip the chair and stand up more easily.

This attention to both user comfort and everyday handling has earned CALA the Red Dot Design Award 2026. The jury recognition adds an international design accolade to a collection conceived specifically for care environments, where functionality and a sense of warmth need to coexist.
WAVE Chair: bringing a softer feel to shared spaces
WAVE starts from a simple idea: care environments should feel comfortable and welcoming rather than institutional. Designed by ODOSDESIGN, the collection combines chairs and tables for dining rooms, common areas, lounges and bedrooms, using soft, rounded forms to create a calmer visual language while retaining the durability required for intensive use.

The chair combines a solid beech frame with a fully upholstered seat, while an integrated handle at the back makes it easier for staff to move when spaces need to be rearranged. Durable glides help protect floors and reduce noise, an understated but valuable detail in environments where a quieter atmosphere can contribute to people’s comfort.

The collection also considers the social side of care. Its tables and seating can be arranged in different configurations, encouraging people to eat together, talk and spend time in shared areas. At Orgatec 2026, SENIORCARE will extend this approach with new WAVE lounge armchairs and sofas, bringing the collection’s language of comfort and rounded forms into waiting and relaxation areas.

WAVE has also received the ADCV Positive Impact Award 2026, recognising its contribution to people’s wellbeing through design. Its approach goes beyond solving functional requirements: details such as the integrated handle, supportive armrests and rounded edges are intended to make everyday activities easier and safer for both users and caregivers.
Designing care around everyday life
For architects and interior designers working on healthcare, senior living and care projects, CALA and the new WAVE lounge pieces offer different ways to create environments that support elderly people while making everyday tasks easier for care professionals. Both collections show that furniture can meet the practical demands of care without sacrificing warmth, comfort or visual character.
