SHOGUN Armchair
- Typology: Office furniture, Soft & lounge seating for workspaces
- Style: Contemporary, Design
- Designer: Verner Panton
SHOGUN is a distinctive armchair by Verner Panton, reintroduced by Kettal in collaboration with Verner Panton Design AG to mark the centenary of the designer’s birth. Originally conceived in 1994–1995, the design reflects Panton’s fascination with geometry, movement and the relationship between object and body.
The chair is rooted in the cylinder, one of Panton’s essential geometric forms, with a seat and backrest shell shaped through the interplay of two semicircles. Kettal’s edition is available with a polymer frame or in wood, offered in oak or lacquered finishes, while the seat can be upholstered in leather or fabric.
Equipped with castors, the armchair introduces movement into the seating experience, avoiding the idea of a fixed, static position. Its sculptural clarity and upholstered comfort make it suitable for contemporary workplace interiors, collaborative areas and hospitality settings where identity, flexibility and comfort need to coexist.
