In the heart of Buchenweg, in the city of Norderstedt, Schleswig-Holstein, stands a nursery school designed with a focus on sustainability and practicality. This visionary project, crafted by the architects at werk.um from Darmstadt, showcases the seamless integration of Kronospan products, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.

The nursery’s vibrant Kronoart® façade creates a welcoming and cheerful atmosphere for families. Inside, the thoughtfully designed spaces promote interaction, communication, and relaxation, providing a safe and dynamic environment for children. Each area is meticulously planned to withstand daily use, ensuring comfort and reliability for both children and caregivers.

Key to this project is the use of durable and sustainable materials. Kronospan’s HPL bonded boards, with a negative ecological footprint, and Compact Interior panels were chosen for their versatility and strength. Available in Kronodesign® unicolours like Dusk Blue, Sky Blue, Capri Blue, Lavender, and Mint, these materials bring a playful yet calming personality to the space.

The nursery’s commitment to eco-friendly practices is also evident in its design philosophy. A photovoltaic system on the flat roof harnesses solar energy, while the modular wood structure allows for future relocation, meeting the community’s evolving needs.

By utilising Kronospan products and embracing circular economy principles, this project reduces its environmental impact while creating an enriching and nurturing environment for children to grow and thrive.
