- Capdepera, Mallorca, Spain
- Typology: Hospitality
Located in an old convent of the XIX century in a privileged natural environment in Capdepera, Mallorca, the Creu de Tau Hotel & Spa is 4-star superior hotel provided with spacious guest rooms and suites. VICAL has been the company chosen for the refurbishment of this newly-restored monument that hosts also an impressive Spa, a high quality restaurant and a bar. The challenge was not that easy as the decoration of the interior spaces should preserve the ancient structure maintaining its majestic atmosphere while creating attractive spaces for modern functionalities.
All the 27 suites – all of them with built-in jacuzzi and outdoor spaces – , maintain the same decorative concept and have been furnished with pieces made of fine woods, linen and earthy tones from the VICAL’s catalogue. The decoration include wide capitoné headrests, feets for beds in Provençal style made of pine wood, armchairs, brnches and sofas adorned with silver stud details and large classic style carpets. To make each suite unique and add character to the decor, the furniture in classic and Mediterranean styles has been contrasted with other pieces upholstered in luxurious velvets and in new ranges of greens, blues or pastel tones with golden ornaments.
Art Deco-inspired furniture and more modern elements have been chosen to decorate the cafeteria including the large geometric-shaped Brilon armchairs, upholstered in precious velvets in ochre tones with legs in black and old gold, the large baroque-inspired mirrors in gold tones, and the ball-floor lamps that combine gold and white colours with materials such as marble and glass, whcih are very characteristic of VICAL.
The Cova Negra restaurant stands out not only for its exquisite gastronomy but also for its elegant decor in rustic and colonial and the enchanting atmosphere. Its interior stands out for the tables and bars of solid wood, the preserved stone arches of the old monastery and the upholstered furniture in a warm colour palette of brown and beige tones. The leather upholstery of chairs and armchairs introduces a new different materials to the hotel’s decor adding a chic touch to the space.
