Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room of the United Nations
- Geneva, Switzerland
- Typology: Institutional & Embassies
For this bespoke project the challenge was to reproduce the work of artist Miquel Barceló, responsible for the impressive dome at the Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room of the United Nations organitzation in Geneva. Barcelo wanted to create a marine cave and work with the concept of gravity. He wanted to have rugs with relief over the walls in order to emulate drops falling from the stalactites of the dome.
True to the original artwork, the firm manufactured and installed the 80 rugs that were necessary to cover the walls of the enormous 600m2 room. The rugs are produced by hand knotted technique to obtain the best quality in the development of relieves. By covering the walls with rugs the room becomes warmer and cosier. The high quality of the rugs provides acoustic insulating and creates comfortably and soft sensations.
