CANCIO. From local craftsmanship to global design: a new chapter begins
Let’s be frank—striking the perfect balance between tradition and innovation is no easy feat. In a market where trends move fast and authenticity is often diluted, few furniture brands manage to stay true to their roots while evolving meaningfully. CANCIO, the Spanish manufacturer renowned for its elegant tables, chairs and stools, is one of the exceptions.
Founded in 1959, this family-owned company has spent over six decades refining its craftsmanship and expanding its capabilities. Now, it enters a bold new phase—one that honours its heritage while embracing a more design-driven, contemporary identity focused on the world of contract interiors.
With the launch of ALCOR, a new collection created by Estudi Manel Molina, CANCIO isn’t just unveiling a product—it’s setting the tone for its future. ALCOR marks a strategic shift, laying the foundation for a recognisable visual language that aligns with the needs of today’s highly personalised and flexible spaces. This is more than a new chapter—it’s a redefinition.

A legacy of evolution
What began as a small carpentry workshop in Madrid has grown into one of Spain’s most respected furniture manufacturers. Still family-owned and now led by its third generation, CANCIO designs and produces all its pieces in Villalba de los Alcores, Valladolid, and is present in more than 20 international markets.

Throughout its journey, CANCIO has never stopped evolving—extending its product ranges, integrating new materials, and refining its production processes. The move towards contract interiors is a natural next step in this evolution, and one that takes clear shape with the launch of ALCOR.

ALCOR: a new direction
At the heart of this transformation is ALCOR, a new collection that embodies the company’s ambitions. Created in collaboration with Barcelona-based Estudi Manel Molina, ALCOR is a refined family of chairs, stools and tables designed specifically with the contract sector in mind. The name “Alcor” carries both literal and symbolic meaning. It references the small hills—or alcores—typical of the landscape around the brand’s factory, evoking elevation and singularity. Just as an alcor rises above its surroundings, this collection signals a new level of design, purpose and identity for the company.

With its understated aesthetic and adaptable character, ALCOR offers an ideal solution for today’s flexible environments—where the boundaries between home, work and leisure are increasingly fluid. The collection is built around a solid wood seat in sustainably sourced European ash, a material local to the region and integral to the brand’s DNA. This base is customisable with various finishes and structures, allowing specifiers to tailor each piece to suit a wide variety of projects and spaces.

ALCOR. Blending craftsmanship and technology: the way forward.
True to its ethos, CANCIO has ensured that the ALCOR range is not only visually coherent but also practical, comfortable and made to last. Its clean lines, thoughtful proportions and strong materials make it suitable for a wide spectrum of interiors—from cafés and hotels to co-working spaces, meeting rooms and public lounges.
The launch of ALCOR is supported by a new online platform, 1959.cancio.es, dedicated to presenting the brand’s latest innovations, collections and inspirations with clarity and purpose. It reflects CANCIO’s ambition to engage directly with the design community, offering tools, references and a rich palette of materials for contract and custom projects.
A new focus, a wider reach
While the brand’s heritage remains at the core of its identity, its gaze is now firmly fixed on the future. Sustainability, quality, technology and design integrity continue to guide every decision—from sourcing and manufacturing to packaging and delivery.

Materials such as aluminium, steel, European ash wood, glass and porcelain are all recyclable and selected for their durability, visual appeal and environmental performance. Local suppliers—located within a 200 km radius—and in-house eco-conscious solutions, like recyclable cardboard packaging, further reinforce CANCIO’s responsible production ethos.
A confident new direction
CANCIO’s move into the contract sector isn’t a break from its past—it’s a natural extension of its strengths. With ALCOR, the brand shows it can offer more than reliable, well-crafted furniture for the home: it can shape inspiring, high-performance spaces where people live, work and connect.
This new design-driven direction opens the door to a wider international audience, and to new types of projects. And yet, through it all, the brand remains recognisably itself: committed to craftsmanship, rooted in its land, and ready for the future.
