Maison&Objet Paris 2020: VERGES, contemporary furniture with a traditional soul
VERGÉS chairs and furniture are the result of a combination of experience, vocation, quality and design. Founded in 1970 in Tortellà, a village in Alta Garrotxa (province of Girona, Catalonia), VERGÉS is a family-run company deeply rooted in the region where it is located, its landscape and traditions. Such continuance has been crucial to forge the company’s philosophy, personality and its way of working.
Today in its second generation, VERGÉS has turned into a global player in the contract sector and its products, which include chairs, lounge chairs, stools, benches and tables, set a benchmark for interior designers and architects that want to make their work appealing.
Such an evolution has been essential to keeping up with an ever-more demanding market and has meant using the latest technology, optimizing resources and turning the original workshop into a modern and dynamic factory that employs approximately 50 people.
New collections have been designed and developed by renowned names of the national and international design scenes and manufactured with utmost care and to the highest quality at the company’s own facilities. The result is a product that ensures the best performances in any installation – be it in hotels, restaurants or any type of public spaces.
Being conscious that each project is a world of its own, the firm has strived to make adaptability a core competency. This translates to the ability to adapt to the needs of any client, offering customized finishes for any model from the catalogue, high-quality fabrics and a wide range of materials and colours.
At the M&O they will celebrate their 50th anniversary with the launch of BOGART, a reinterpretation by Manel Molina Studio of the first wicker chairs produced by the company in the 70s. New launches for 2020 also include the seat collections CISTELL, DULA and the SANDWICH table. Let’s have a deeper insight…
DULA modular seating system. By Yago Sarri
DULA is the modular seating system designed by Yago Sarri to furnish rest and waiting areas in halls, offices, hotel receptions, etc. Comfort is ensured by the large proportions and the simple yet clever design that make of DULA a perfect option to create multiple setups for different spaces and needs. Modules can be arranged in various configurations – back-to-back groups, for example, can be used to create islands in open-space layouts.
Complementary side tables can be used individually or incorporated into the linear system, between the seats or at the end of the unit.
The DULA collection includes also a single or two-seater armchair version. Both models offer two types of arm: fully upholstered or made of a visually light tubular structure – with wooden arms – for an extra touch of modernity.
CISTELL chair. By Yago Sarri
Designed by Barcelona-based industrial designer Yago Sarri, CISTELL is a collection of chairs and armchairs for refined, contemporary spaces.
Eye-catching yet comfortable and well-made, it features a sinuous and calm silhouette that fits perfectly for both meeting and restaurant spaces.
It is offered in different versions: with a wooden structure, with upholstered seat shell, with metal legs. As for colours, it is available in natural or dyed wood or lacquered.
SANDWICH table. By Untaller Studio
Created by the Untaller studio, SANDWICH is a collection of tables of great versatility destined to restaurant spaces and coffee shops. Its design is robust and sober with a “double” column that gives the table a distinctive character.
SANDWICH comes in different dimensions and shapes and can be personalized choosing from a wide range of materials, including solid wood, wooden veneers, metal, Formica, Dekton, lacquers etc.
The metal base and column are made of steel coated with RAL polyester powder paint. The column can come covered in wood in combination or in contrast with the base or the top.
