Salone del Mobile.Milano 2022. Top designer furniture & decor solutions for home and hospitality use (2)
Amenities, services and, most importantly, design choices are all crucial for hotels to bring in customers and earn repeat business. The trend for creating spaces that elicit the “home away from home” is still dominating, fostering comfortable, relaxing – and safe – atmospheres that attract guests and improve their stay.
Certified products and natural materials such as wood, glass, stone, or metal which meet ecological and safety standards are the most used in hotel renovations or even new builds. Experts predict that natural upholsteries and decorative fabrics, unpainted wooden surfaces, stone textures, and ceramic surfaces will still be popular in 2022.
Not only hotel rooms, though. Lobbies and dining areas too have elevated their design aesthetic and been transformed to better serve and engage all guests. Outdoor spaces are equally important since many guests are often looking to enjoy a break on a balcony or relax before their next meeting. All these aspects have been considered by Spanish brands for the development of new furnishing solutions for hotel and restaurant environments. As you can see in Milan…
ONDARRETA. Hall 16 Stand E22
With new version of the HARI chair sustainability is taken to the higher level. Designed by JM Ferrero from the Valencian studio estudi{H}ac and inspired by industrial textile looms, HARI is a family of chairs, stools, benches, and lounge pieces that subtly combine industrial aesthetic and fine sewing technique. The new HARI Polypropylene Re-Wood version is even more practical and lighter, yet without loosing the design essence that makes this seat collection so unique.
Developed following eco-design guidelines, the new chair is made of re-wood polypropylene (available in white and caramel colours), a material that reduces its environmental impact by incorporating wastes coming from the wood-production processes of ONDARRETA’s factory. Its eco-friendly nature has earned the HARI Polypropylene Re-Wood chair the GOLD prize in the category “Excellent Product Design – Eco Design” at the latest German Design Awards.
Functionality and beauty combine in ELE, the new line of accessories conceived to optimize the use of space and improve our everyday life. Created by young designers Eduardo Cámara & Patricia Ibáñez, the ELE WALL hangers have required a fine woodworking process for bending the material: tinted European Oak wood glued on an 8 mm (0.31”) thick beech plywood core. The design achieved allows multiple configurations, either at home or in contract environments.
ELE STAND is a floor coat stand inspired by the verticality of wheat plants. It has a base made of steel available in nine different epoxi colours and a column in solid stained oak or stained beech. This combination of materials enhances the simple aesthetic of the stand adding personality and dynamism.
DRESSY. Hall 12 Stand B09
Comfort or style? With DRESSY you have both and you won’t be disappointed. The brand, a specialist in high-style tables and chairs, will present in Milan its first collection of modular sofas and armchair, BALMA.
Drawing inspiration by a geographic toponym – Balma, in the Valencia Community – that indicates a shallow cave shelter, a concavity in the rock produced by erosion and weathering, Spanish designer Santiago Sevillano has created the refined and sumptuous BALMA sofa. Taking the idea of a natural refuge and its concave shapes as a reference, the new modular sofa, with its generous proportions, soft seats, and slightly curved backrests, offers a niche of comfort and relaxation, a refuge after a busy day.
The metallic structure supports a wooden board where the seats are placed. Comfort is taken to a higher level by an innovative upholstery that combines TRIAFILL® microfibre and injected polyurethane foams of various densities.
With the NUBO seating collection, another creation by Santiago Sevillano, meticulous craftsmanship has found a new expression. Its unique design is based on the piling and fusion of the different elements that shape the backrest and give volume to the piece.
NUBO has a shell made of injected polyurethane foam that provides the seat with great comfort and ergonomics. It is offered with four different metal legs, one of them with a swivel mechanism; and in two backrest options (low and high). One of the latest additions to the collection is the lounge chair that adds further versatility to this seat family.
RESOL. Hall 12 Stand B21
A private escape. Striking beauty, hugging shapes and seating comfort out of this world – this is the essence of the ANOU armchair, a new design by Jorge Pensi for RESOL. With its large and deep enveloping seat, the generously sized ANOU armchair features a perfect combination of strength and softness, sturdiness and cosiness.
Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, it has a shell made of injected polypropylene with fibreglass and a painted iron structure. As per bases, it is possible to choose from different versions: metal or wooden legs, rocking base or swivel base with aluminium structure. The removable zipped cushions are upholstered with high performing fabrics that ensure maximum resistance to weather conditions, chemical exposure and fading.
Made of injected polypropylene with fibreglass and UV protection, the BINI collection is ideal for home and contract use both in indoor and outdoor spaces. Inspired by the traditional cane chair – a classic that Spanish designer, Joan Gaspar has revised in terms of aesthetic and materials -, BINI is available in two versions, chair and lounge chair, and in 6 trendy colours that make it extremely adaptable to every environment.
The light, stackable structure is formed by an integrated arm, a support line and the seat. Both chairs come in combination with matching round tables available in two heights.
ROLS CARPETS. Hall 10 Stand A07
Now that we have seen a lot of options for sitting in style and comfort, we offer some fresh and eco-friendly ideas for defining spaces and bring visual interest to spaces. Rug specialist ROLS CARPETS introduces the new lines of rugs entirely made from recycled plastic. Thanks to an innovative upcycling process, the firm gives a creative reuse and a second life to PET bottles and abandoned fishing nets collected from the ocean.
TERRA is their newest collections of indoor and outdoor rugs from made 100% PET recycled plastic. Despite the material, all the rugs have an artisanal appearance much similar to that of sisal or jute rugs. The TERRA rugs are available in a width of 2 metres and in 6 different designs inspired by different deserts of the world – Atacama, Gobi, Gorafe, Sahar, Serengeti, and Uyuni-, with 2 finishes to choose from: Rustic and Dobilux.
Another sustainable option is LUNA, a rug collection made from fishing nets collected from the ocean. With a totally random texture of cut and loop yarns, it has a natural look, very similar to that of rugs made of natural fibres such as silk or tencel, but with an interesting feature, it has far superior performance than traditional fabrics, both in terms of ease of cleaning and use, which make this rug model ideal for hotels and commercial use.
The LUNA Collection is available in 12 trendy colours, for installation as a wall-to-wall rug or as an eye-catching bespoke rug.
