The Commitment of Spanish Furniture to Sustainability and the Circular Economy
Sustainability is no longer an option—it is a shared responsibility. In a global context marked by climate change and growing environmental awareness, Spain’s furniture sector is taking an active role in the transition toward a more circular, responsible, and transparent production model.
Furniture from Spain brings together a group of brands that not only champion design and innovation, but also embrace ethical manufacturing practices, environmental respect, and a commitment to social well-being. From the use of recycled and recyclable materials to clean energy generation, the implementation of certified environmental management systems, and the development of long-lasting products, these companies demonstrate that it is possible to reconcile aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability.
Through pioneering projects and tangible solutions, the seven brands featured below reflect the efforts of Spanish furniture manufacturers to actively contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—leading by example, not just by words.
KHAMA Hotel: Innovation and Sustainability in Hotel Sleep Solutions
The Spanish brand KHAMA Hotel, part of the Senttix – Ecus Sleep group, has set a new benchmark in the sleep industry with its revolutionary renewable mattress, KHAMA MÁS. This innovative solution allows hotels to update the mattress without replacing it entirely, thanks to a system of interchangeable layers that extends its lifespan by up to 2.5 times compared to a conventional model. In addition to reducing waste and operating costs, it drastically cuts emissions associated with transport and manufacturing.
Specifically designed for the hospitality sector, the KHAMA MÁS mattress—featuring compactable pocket spring technology and user-friendly handling—delivers premium comfort and a personalized experience for each guest. Manufactured using solar energy and optimized low-emission processes, its environmental impact is 90% lower than that of a traditional mattress. Already implemented in hotel chains such as Landmar Hotels, Vivood Landscape Hotel, and Villas Cardás, this model is a clear example of how sustainable design can transform comfort while remaining true to environmental responsibility.

Vondom: Circular Luxury and Sustainability in Outdoor Furniture
For Vondom, true luxury lies not only in design, but in the positive impact it creates. Under the concept of circular luxury, the Alicante-based brand has developed a design philosophy where aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability are seamlessly integrated. Using recyclable materials and renewable energy, each piece of outdoor furniture is designed to be long-lasting while minimizing its environmental footprint.
Thanks to its self-generated energy system powered by photovoltaic panels, Vondom prevents the emission of over 900 tons of CO₂ per year, the equivalent of planting 60,000 trees. Additionally, the company’s environmental management system is certified under ISO 14001:2015, and its concrete actions have resulted in a 14% reduction in its carbon footprint over the past two years. With a clear vision toward 2025, Vondom reaffirms its commitment to the planet without compromising the cutting-edge design that defines its collections.

Sancal: Environmental Transparency with Verified EPDs
As part of its strong commitment to sustainability, Sancal has become one of the first companies in the sector to obtain verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its entire collection. These certifications, audited by independent entities such as SCS Global Services, provide precise data on the environmental impact of each product throughout its life cycle—from raw material sourcing to end-of-life. It is a key tool for architects, interior designers, and specifiers working on projects aligned with standards such as LEED, BREEAM, or WELL.
This achievement is part of a broader strategy based on transparency, continuous improvement, and eco-efficiency. The company also holds ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 9001 (quality management) certifications, uses solar energy, applies water-based adhesives and paints, and guarantees the quality and durability of its products with a 10-year warranty. In addition, it promotes initiatives such as Sancal Preloved, which gives a second life to its furniture. With its EPDs available for direct download, Sancal proves that responsible design is no longer an aspiration—but a verified reality.

Andreu World: Circular Design Focused on User Well-Being
For Andreu World, sustainability is not a trend, but a deeply rooted conviction—part of its identity since its founding as a family-owned company more than 65 years ago. Its philosophy is based on integrating environmental, social, and cultural sustainability through a circular design approach that places the health and well-being of the user at the core. This commitment is backed by certifications such as FSC® for its entire collection, Healthy Hospitals Interiors (HHI), and the use of innovative materials like PURE ECO®, a 100% recycled and recyclable thermopolymer.
Designed by Patricia Urquiola, the Nuez chair is a clear example of this commitment—a piece that blends aesthetics, ergonomics, and environmental responsibility. Its versatile design and sustainable shell help create safer, healthier, and longer-lasting spaces. In addition, Andreu World has doubled its product warranty to 10 years and is actively working toward its goal of making 100% of its products part of the circular economy by 2025. Because, as the brand states, good design is that which improves daily life without compromising the planet’s future.

Ezpeleta: Outdoor Furniture that Purifies the Air
Sustainable innovation is the driving force behind Ezpeleta, a brand specialized in outdoor furniture that has embraced the circular economy as a guiding principle in product development. Its iconic EOLO Pureti parasol is the embodiment of this philosophy: a 100% recyclable model that, thanks to innovative photocatalytic technology, actively purifies the air by neutralizing harmful gases such as those produced by traffic. Its positive environmental impact is so significant that each installed unit is equivalent to planting two trees.
Manufactured in collaboration with U.S.-based company Pureti, EOLO Pureti has received international accolades such as the Red Dot Award 2020 for product design and the Nestlé Sustainability Award. This product is part of a broader strategy in which Ezpeleta is committed to using 100% recyclable polypropylene in its chairs, tables, and parasols, as well as to continuously reducing emissions and resource consumption. It’s clear proof that you can help take care of the planet—even from a terrace.
