SANCAL and EXPORMIM furniture for the exuberant Generator Barcelona Hostel & Hotel
The UK Generator Hostel chain has chosen Barcelona to start its expansion into Spain and furniture companies SANCAL and EXPORMIM have been contracted to supply part of the furnishing. Their seats and tables not only bring comfort, they also convey the dynamic and fun vision of this cool city hostel chain. Find out more…
After the first Generator opened its doors in 1995 in London, the Generator Hostels, a subsidiary of Patron Capital, has begun its expansion all over Europe with the opening of new hostels in the very heart of Copenhagen, Dublin, Hamburg, Berlin, Venice and now in Barcelona. New openings have also been planned in Paris and Rome.
The design language of the chain has been crafted by The Design Agency in collaboration with partner and Generator’s Creative Director, Anwar Makhayech. Each hostel has its own style that reflects the local culture and lifestyle yet maintaining a common aesthetic with an emphasis on bold and exciting social spaces.
By combining competitive prices with a product that deploys cutting edge design, art, music, fashion and a strong social media presence, Generator Hostels cater towards both a young and less young clientele who enjoy hip accommodation in central locations in busy and exciting European cities.
Originally built in 1963, the Barcelona hostel has undergone a complete renovation that has transformed it into one of the city’s coolest hotels. And it is also unique in the Generator family since it is both a hostel and a hotel.
Its bold interiors have been decorated with some of the SANCAL’s most successful collections: the TAB tables designed by Nadadora, the TEA chairs by José Manuel Ferrero and the BOOMERANG CHILL armchair, a stylish creation by Quim Larrea.
The cutting-edge design of SANCAL’s furniture contributes to create cozy yet exciting spaces in the communal and lounge area of this stylish urban haven.
The stylish NAUTICA swing chairs, a design by MUT Design for EXPORMIM, proved a right choice for the reception area where they suit perfectly with the nature-inspired look of the staircase hall.
