NATURE, the new 100% sustainable and recycled fabric collection from FAMA
Conventional textile production is one of the most polluting industries on the planet. That’s why research has strived to find new ways of producing fabrics which don’t require toxins and large amounts of water, and therefore minimise harm to the environment.
Strongly committed to sustainability, FAMA, Spain’s leader manufacturer of sofas and armchairs, has adhered with the ecological revolution by adopting an innovative, ecological approach to production: 92% of the waste material generated during the firm’s production process is recycled; from the wood waste, which is used for making MDF boards, to the fibres, which are reused for making children’s plush toys.
Recently, FAMA has incorporated in its range of fabrics the Recover Upcycled Textile System which turns textile waste into valuable new yarn for many life-cycles. The new collection of 100% sustainable, recycled, dye-free fabrics can be used to upholster all the models of sofas and armchairs available in FAMA’s catalogue; among them the new sofas from the 2018 Seventies series: Avalon, Nadine, Nina and Simone.
Created by Antonio Ferre, General Manager and CEO at Hilaturas Ferre S.A., Recover is a process by which old clothing, other textiles and even plastic bottles are recovered and transformed into new fabrics for reuse in different applications and fields: fashion, furniture, accessories, industrial products, the possibilities are endless.
The new collaboration with RECOVER marks a new turning point in FAMA’s commitment to the environment as it encourages awareness of ecological issues while fostering the repurpose of industrial production waste. Although this is just a tiny change, this alteration could eventually pave the way for more sustainable furniture production, leading us to be more conscious of environmental impact.
Sinking into your sofa has never been so incredibly beneficial for both the planet and for you…
