SOHER, unique high-end furniture and style
A family-owned company based in Torrente, near Valencia, SOHER was founded in 1942 by Vicente Simó Iborra as a small foundry to manufacture bronze sculptures. Seventy-five years on and the company is run by Vicente’s grandson, it has turned into a leading manufacturer of high-end furniture and accessories and it exports more than 90% of its products to some 50 countries with the Middle East, Russia, Ukraine, USA, UK and China as key markets.
“We have never wavered in our commitment to maintain the highest possible standards of quality and craftsmanship, that make SOHER so special,” says Paco Simó, CEO at SOHER and third generation of the firm. The real added value of this brand is its innate style which is based on subtle luxury, quality and timeless class.
“Our style originates mainly from our technical skills and craftsmanship, from the sapient use of noble and selected materials, but it is also the fruit of our numerous collaborations with experienced professionals of the interior design scene”, points out Paco. The company’s highly skilled artisans are masters of the techniques of marquetry, gold-leaf and silver finishes and hand-chiselling and are very good at working with bronze, crystal, mother-of-pearl and semi-precious stones for the décor objects, which include clocks, figurines and lamps.
SOHER creates an eclectic range of furniture and accessories inspired by European classic styles (Empire, Isabelline, Neoclassical, mainly) and the Art-Deco with collections for bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and offices. “We skilfully combine originality and purity, taking from enduring themes but always with an eye on evolving tastes and trends,” explains Paco. “This has allowed us to elaborate a recognisable aesthetic that reinterprets styles with new approaches to forms and materials”.
Top quality wood, such as ebony, American walnut, mahogany, rosewood, olive, oak, elaborate marquetry, perfect lacquers, fine handmade relief patterns, gold and silver-leaf finishes are just a few options in the brand’s catalogue. All of which are designed to age well and inspire a unique lifestyle narrative.
Flexibility and personal approach are other big issues at SOHER. “A great deal of the company’s work is bespoke: we design, manufacture and install tailor-made furniture for the residential, hospitality and institutional markets,” says Ramón Grimaldos, Export Manager at SOHER. “We work in partnership with our customers, collaborating with them to understand their precise needs and turn their expectations into reality”.
SOHER works closely with interior designers and architects, and Ramón stresses that another factor which distinguishes the business is its willingness to undertake small, as well as large projects.
They have worked in many countries refurbishing VIP’s villas and apartments, luxury hotels and restaurants, important institutional offices, such as the Government Palace of HRH Prince Khalid Al Faisal, Governor of the cities of Jeddah and Mecca in Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Interior of Kuwait and the recent Westin Dubai Al Habtoor City Hotel.
The company could not have achieved its international reputation without exhibiting at the world’s great trade fairs, including the Salone Milano, I Saloni WorldWide Moscow, Decorex London and the Index Dubai.
