Spanish brands on display in London: an explosion of style and attractive designs
Whether you’re an interior designer, a supplier, a member of the press or a design-savvy visitor, the annual London showcases are a hub for interiors lovers. Every year, in September, 100% design, designjunction and the Decorex are home to some of the most prestigious, world-renowned and exciting interiors brands from across the globe.
Spanish brands are not an exception, so every year a small group of them exhibits in London trying to strengthen their presence in the UK market, which ranks 4th among Spain’s top export destinations for furniture (ANIEME report, June 2018). Add to this the fact that many Spanish companies want to tap into major projects and London is the global hub of the architecture and interior design industry.
This year was the turn of ACTIU, INCLASS and COLECCIÓN ALEXANDRA which landed in London to present their latest solutions for innovative workspaces and a range of high-end contract furnishings for exclusive spaces.
Let’s expolore together…
100% Design
One of the stand out events of the London Design Festival, 100% Design returned for its 24th edition from 19-22 September 2018. The show highlighted and celebrated extraordinary creativity within design, showcasing the very best from leading and emerging brands and offering as well live workshops and talks with leading names in architecture and design.
With an eye-catching staging, the Spain’s office furniture manufacturer ACTIU showcased a selection of products that skilfully mix art, technology and design to meet new, emerging trends in working environments and collective spaces.
Based on urban’s art, the firm’s stand was dominated by the BADMINTON chairs displayed with a very creative graphic design. The stand offered also a showcase for other new products of the brand, all of them specifically designed to provide people at work with functional and ergonomic solutions: TALENT, the height-adjustable, movable and foldable tables by Alegre Design; the WHASS super-stackable chair designed by ITEMdesignworks; the BEND modular soft seating by Stone Design and the LONGO modular system by Ramos&Bassols.
In addition, there was a preview presentation of KARBON, the firm’s brand-new ultra-light, carbon fibre chair.
Designjunction
Launched in 2011 by a team of design industry experts, designjunction connects the world’s most renowned design brands, with the world’s leading architects, interior designers, specifiers and buyers. In its eighth year, the London event has welcomed its most impressive exhibitor line-up to date, including a host of new brands.
For its first appearance at designjunction, office furniture specialist INCLASS transformed its stand into a perfect showcase for the different items of its best-seller collection: VARYA. The collection, which includes an extensive range of chairs, armchairs, stools and benches, is offered in twelve colours and upholstered in three different ways. The broad variety of bases, together with the extensive range of available finishes, allows for endless customization possibilities without altering the unique character and timeless spirit of its aesthetic.
At designjunction, the firm introduced also the ESSENS table, a creation by London-based designer Jonathan Prestwich. With its sculptural outline, the ESSENS table programme comprises four types of 100% recyclable polyethylene bases for composing tables in an endless variety of formats.
ACTIU made the most of its London experience, choosing designjunction for the international launch of KARBON, its multi-purpose chair made of carbon fibre.
The launch of KARBON designed by ITEMdesignworks received an overwhelmingly enthusiastic welcome, thanks to both its design, material and its light weight.
This chair not only positions ACTIU as an industrial firm capable of manufacturing furniture in carbon fibre, it also opens up a new line of research and innovation, with the possibility of incorporating new production processes and materials with a future-facing perspective and values.

As a show dedicated to conjuring London’s global reputation for elegance and the vanguard, Decorex is an unmissable event for the world’s most distinguished names of the haute décor.
Spain was represented by high-end furniture manufacturer COLECCIÓN ALEXANDRA that exhibited some of its most attractive collections including traditional, handcraft luxurious pieces and the newest avant guard contemporary proposals for exclusive spaces.
Together with the iconic COSMOPOL sofa and the TRAVELER bar cabinet, the firm presented in London some of its newest launches. The enveloping silhouette of the FLUTE armchair, created by Italian designer Michele Mantovani, complemented in the most beautiful way the spectacular SILVIA chest-of-drawer enhancing the sophistication and the luxurious feel of the space. The natural vibe was given by the FOREST cabinet, a design by the creative Maria J. Guinot that features a carved tree branch on the front and is supported by a refined golden base.
In the living space the spotlight was on the YUAN chair, which is part of the newly-lunched The One Collection, an Asian-inspired line of dining room furniture that starts a new collaboration between Colección Alexandra and the talented Chinese interior designer Ben Wu. Its refined design and enveloping seat fuse the elegance of ancient Chinese tradition into the sleek aesthetic of the West.
