Spanish brands offer their new visions for work at the ORGATEC 2018
Long gone are the days when ORGATEC was simply an exhibition of desks, chairs, filing cabinets and the like. Its focus is now on the new culture of work, work processes and forward-looking office concepts.
With the digital transformation, companies are more involved than ever in creating spaces in the office that can easily be reconfigured for different tasks and evolving teams. This means that work doesn’t necessarily need to be chained to a defined space and time.
The biennial ORGATEC (October, 23 to 27) will try to shed light on how co-working and other collaborative concepts are changing the work environment and will strive to offer solutions for the workspaces of the future.
The show not only offers an almost complete overview of the global market of furnishing, lighting, flooring, acoustics and media technology for the office and other commercial applications. The event and congress programme of the fair showcases the current trends and developments as well as best practice examples from all over the world. Topics addressed at the fair include new concepts on the current trends of team work, digitalisation, holistic interiors and the attractiveness of the workplace.
In Halls 5.2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.1, 10.2 and 11,2, more than 600 exhibitors coming from 37 countries – including a strong presence from Italy, Spain and Denmark -, will showcase innovative products and pioneering ideas, thematically divided into the Space, Contract, Mobile and Office segments.
Spain is represented by 56 brands, most of them ambassadors of Furniture from Spain in Cologne. Their offer is as diverse as the concepts and the sectors represented at the fair, including furniture for offices, meeting and conference rooms, auditoriums, institutions, lounge spaces, hotels, restaurants and bars, outdoors; solutions for co-working spaces, open office plans and overlap zones, innovative “hot-desking” configurations, table systems, soft seating, acoustic systems and accessories for office landscaping.
All the products have been designed by specialized in-house teams or they are fruit of the collaborations with big names of the Spanish and international design scene, such as Patricia Urquiola, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Lievore Altherr Molina, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Mario Ruiz, Vicent Martínez, Arik Levy, Rafa Garcia, Yonoh, Note Design Studio, Alfredo Häberli, Piergiorgio Cazzaniga, Javier Cuñado, Alegre Industrial, Ludovica & Roberto Palomba, Simon Pengelly, Jaime Hayón, Eugeni Quitellet, Ramón Esteve, just to name a few.
Germany is the third largest market for Spain’s furniture exports. In 2017, the exports of Spanish furniture amounted to 140.5 million euros, which represented the 6.6% of Spain’s total exports.
The excellent performances of Spanish furniture in the German market, which is also a hub for other Central Europe markets, have encouraged a rising number of Spanish brands to increase their participation in the main business platforms of the area: IMM Cologne, Orgatec and Light + Building in Frankfurt. Main aim of their strategy is to establish new business collaborations with local professionals of the interior design and contract industry and consolidate their position in the market.
As in previous years, the fair expects more than 56,000 opinion-shaping trade visitors that will include founders of start-up companies, dealers and decision makers from SMEs, planners, architects and interior designers as well as representatives from the real estate sector and executives from the Procurement and Human Resources departments of large corporations.
