Furniture from Spain kicks off its international circuit at the imm cologne 2020
Furniture of Spain will play a leading role at the imm cologne 2020, the international furniture trade show that every year is held in January at the Koelnmesse Exhibition Centre in Cologne. The array of exhibitors at imm cologne covers every category in the furniture and interior design industry, providing a market overview of different products and furnishing styles.
The powerful Spanish presence is not accidental as Germany represents the third largest market for exports of Spanish furniture. As a matter of fact, during the period from January to September 2019, exports of Spanish furniture to the German country amounted to 117 million euros, representing 6.8% of the total and registering an increase of +6.4% over last year. Showing a positive trend of constant growth, new figures consolidate Germany as a target market for Spanish furniture brands, particularly for those that have focused their strategy on RDI and sustainable production processes.
Furniture from Spain, an outstanding presence in all imm sectors and in the Das Haus installation
With its impressive results, the imm cologne is indeed the place to be for those exhibitors that aim at inspiring the global design scene. With each edition the trade show is drawing more and more attention – a total of 150,000 visitors coming from 145 countries attended the fair last year attracted by the 1,158 exhibitors showcasing on a surface of approximately 250,000 m2. Event organizers expect that the 2020 edition, which will be held from the 13th and 19th of January, will top these numbers.
Its international vocation is highlighted by the large presence of foreign exhibitors which represent the 78% of exhibiting companies. In this context, Furniture from Spain is one of the most outstanding participation with a group of 27 brands that will be exhibiting in almost all sectors and in the Das Haus space that this year is dedicated to Spanish design studio MUT Design.
Spanish brands in the PURE interior world
In order to improve the visitors’ experience and enable exhibitors to choose the best-possible positioning, imm cologne has been divided into 7 sectors, called “interior worlds”, structured around different product offerings.
PURE EDITIONS brings the best of the international design scene to Cologne: leading brands and big names that set trends with their charming living spaces and innovative living concepts. In this area, Spanish brands like KETTAL, ONDARRETA and TREKU will be showcasing their most forward-thinking designs and visionary product for innovative living concepts.
The new PURE PLATFORMS area offers young companies and first-time exhibitors a ready-made settings for a premium presentation in a compact space. This is the space chosen by the Spanish brands MEGA MOBILIARIO and SENTTIX to showcase, respectively, their new collections for living rooms and highly innovative sleep systems.
PURE ATMOSPHERES is the interior experience par excellence. The focus here is not on the product itself but on broad-based furnishing collections for complete interior concepts, as those from the Spanish high-end brand PUNT that will put on display its most iconic offer for stylish spaces. On the other hand, iSiMAR will impress for its colorful and versatile collections for outdoor and indoor spaces.
Spanish brands in the HOME ZONE sector
A large number of Spanish firms congregate at the HOME SCENES. It offers thousands of ideas for comfortable interiors and diverse lifestyles with products such as armchairs, sofas, sofa-beds, bedroom and living room furniture, shelving systems and much more. Brands such as DRESSY, FAMA, EMEDE, MOBLIBERICA, MUSOLA or PLMdesign Barcelona will exhibit their most original and functional designs for cool indoor and outdoor spaces.
Furniture for young lifestyles or ready-to-go furniture have also their place at the imm, namely in the HOME SETTINGS sector, where FENICIA MOBILIARIO and TRASMAN PENEDÉS will put on display a full spectrum of furniture and modular systems in modern materials for the living areas and the bedroom.
We cannot forget the area dedicated to the ‘world of dreams’, the HOME SLEEP sector with its innovative products and concepts designed to ensure a perfect night’s rest. In this area, the mattresses, bed bases and bedding products of some of Spain’s big players of the sleep-health industry, DUPEN, GOMARCO and KARIBBIAN, will set the bar high. So, don’t miss them!
This year’s DAS HAUS space brings the Spanish take on contemporary lifestyles
One of the most important events of the imm cologne is the DAS HAUS – Interiors on Stage space, the leading exhibition that occupies the central area of the Pure Editions sector. Every year, an international designer is invited to interpret a domestic space, presenting a project that combines architecture, interior design and furniture.
This year, the privilege of designing “Das Haus” corresponds to Mut Design, a Valencia-based studio that presents its ‘a la fresca’ (in the open air) project, their peculiar Mediterranean vision of a home in which the boundaries between outside and inside are diluted.
But there is much in store on the Spanish side, as the city of Valencia, which is the base of MUT Design, has also been chosen as the World Capital of Design 2022 by the World Design Organization (WDO). The Valencia region is brimming with highly creative people and the MUT studio is one of the most emerging designers’ team at international level. DAS HAUS turns therefore into a great promotion opportunity for Spain, its design scene, talents and inspiring lifestyle.
For DAS HAUS the Spanish studio, which over the years has worked for both national and international labels, has selected a whole series of products from Spanish brands such as DIABLA, EXPORMIM, GAN and SANCAL. This way, the space will surely convert into a true exponent of the new wave of Spanish designers giving rise to multidisciplinary teams composed of people with modern, flexible and creative ideas about the interior design sector.
