GOMARCO celebrates its 40th anniversary with the opening of new facilities and the launch of the UNICBED technology

State-of-the-art technology, an increasing turnover, automatized production and a sustainable and organic mattress production attest the long-lasting experience and the strong values of GOMARCO, one of Spain’s greatest mattresses manufacturers.

Founded in the ‘70s, the company celebrates this year its 40^th anniversary with the opening of new offices and a renovated factory in the industrial area between Yecla and Villena, in Eastern Spain. The modern facilities spread over two separate areas, which are nevertheless connected to each other: the production plant that occupies 13,200 sqm on the ground-level and the intermediate level; and the offices which are distributed over 1,500 sqm on the two further floors.

The top floor hosts the RD department where the newly launched UNICBED technology has been developed. Unique in their genre – at least until now-, the UNICBED applications are based on the personalization of the product to obtain a better and healthier rest.

Designed to maximise comfort and well-being, the UNICBED system adapts the mattress to the shape of the body and to the habits and particular needs of users. Personalization is obtained by analysing the body through a high-precision scanner that highlights the pressure and firmness points on the body. The scanning is completed with the incorporation of NUCOL, a novel viscoelastic element, in-house designed and produced by GOMARCO, whose pieces present different degrees of firmness. The result is a structure composed of eight different zones with four distinct degrees of firmness, which offers up to 65,000 different combinations. This way, comfort, support, breathability and exclusivity in design are ensured.

Testing the comfort of the UNICBED technology on the inauguration day

The application of NUCOL on the GOMARCO’s mattresses has been tested and certified by the Sleep Clinic directed by Eduardo Stivill, a doctor specialised Clinical Neurophysiology, Pediatrics and European specialist in Sleep Medicine. The conclusions of the clinical study show that this technology improves and maintains the sleep’s quality with the consequent benefits for user’s health.

As for the factory, the production plant is managed through a cutting-edge IT system which incorporates RFID technology. These new technologies allow to have a full control of each product during the production, storage, shipment and transport phases. The linear assembly line is completely robotized with exclusive machinery that increases energetic efficiency while minimising manipulation in the production process and therefore worker’s physical effort.

GOMARCO has received the OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certification, which recognises at international level the reliability of the textiles used in their products, that is to say, that all their mattresses contain raw textile materials, free of toxic and harmful substances.

The construction of the new industrial complex of GOMARCO has required an investment of 4 million euros and has favoured the quantitative and qualitative growth of the company.

Currently, the company counts with a workforce of over a hundred workers and in the last year, it has doubled the turnover in relation to 2013.
