Spanish Design Excellence: A Summary of International Awards and Winning Collections in the Second Half of 2025″

January 20 / 2026

The momentum built by Spanish design during the first half of 2025 did not slow down — quite the opposite. As the year progressed, Spanish brands continued to capture the attention of the world’s most influential design juries, securing major international awards that celebrate not only formal excellence, but also craftsmanship, sustainability, innovation and cultural depth.

From sculptural outdoor collections inspired by nature and architecture, to contract solutions that rethink how we work, meet and relax, the second half of 2025 once again confirms Spanish design as a powerful, coherent voice on the global stage — one that professional buyers increasingly recognise for its ability to combine emotion with performance.

Archiproducts Design Awards 2025. Outdoor Design as Architecture, Craft and Sustainability

Spanish brands were among the standout winners at the Archiproducts Design Awards 2025, particularly in outdoor and sustainability categories — a territory where Spanish design continues to lead with confidence and originality.

HOS Collection | Kengo Kuma | GANDIABLASCO

HOS Collection | Kengo Kuma | GANDIABLASCO

A central highlight was HOS, the first limited-edition collection by GANDIABLASCO designed by Kengo Kuma. Conceived as a collector’s piece, HOS draws deeply from traditional Japanese architecture, utilising the Okiari carpentry technique—a refined system of interlocking, carved wooden elements. The collection evokes atmospheric phenomena such as rain and mist through its woven surfaces, translating Nature into structure and texture. Recognised in the Outdoor category and awarded the Sustainability Award / Outdoor, HOS perfectly encapsulates Gandia Blasco’s commitment to research, craftsmanship and long-term design value.

DUNNE Outdoor Lounge Collection | Nao Tamura | GANDIABLASCO

The brand was further recognised for DUNNE, designed by Nao Tamura, also awarded in the Outdoor category. Inspired by the movement of the sea and the ever-changing shape of dunes, DUNNE combines thermolacquered aluminium extrusion with meticulous hand assembly and welding. The result is a collection that feels both industrial and poetic — furniture that captures motion, lightness and Mediterranean landscape in sculptural form.

Outdoor excellence was reinforced by iSiMAR, awarded for the HABANA Collection, developed in collaboration with Gensler. More than a traditional cabana, HABANA functions as an architectural refuge. Its softened trapezoidal silhouette, crafted from galvanised rod, plays with light and shadow while redefining privacy and openness. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the collection responds seamlessly to the evolving boundaries between hospitality, workspace and residential environments — an increasingly relevant quality for specifiers and buyers alike.

MOMOS Space | José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales | GAN

In the Decor category, MOMOS by GAN Rugs received top honours, alongside the Sustainability Award / Decor. Inspired by the textile craftsmanship of Maranhão, Brazil, and reinterpreted through contemporary design, MOMOS transforms traditional embroidery into rugs, poufs and cushions with expressive three-dimensional volumes. Designed in Spain and handcrafted in India by the GAN Women Unit, the collection reflects a global, human-centred approach to design rooted in skill, culture and responsible production.

Red Dot Design Awards 2025. Functional Beauty for Contemporary Workspaces

At the Red Dot Design Awards 2025, Spanish brands were recognised for designs that balance clarity, functionality and strong identity.

DORIK Table Programme | Odos Design | ACTIU

DORIK Table Programme | Odosdesign | ACTIU

ACTIU received the award for DORIK in the category Product Design, a collection inspired by the harmonic proportions of classical Doric columns. Mediterranean in spirit yet contemporary in execution, Dorik translates architectural heritage into elegant tables produced through rotational moulding. Its single-column structure allows for modular configurations, making it especially attractive for collaborative and meeting environments.

BIMU Room-divider System | Fat.iron Studio | OFITRES by Alvic

In the same category, OFITRES was awarded for BIMU, a system that reimagines industrial modular shelving for the office landscape. Stripped back to its essence, BIMU finds beauty in function. Its aluminium structure and adaptable accessories allow open-plan spaces to be transformed into productive, welcoming environments that support both collaboration and individual focus — a key concern for today’s professional buyers.

BOY Awards 2025 – Best of the Best. Design with Social, Environmental and Contract Impact

The Best of Year Awards 2025, organised by Interior Design magazine, further highlighted the depth and diversity of Spanish design across social, environmental and contract categories.

Among the winners, GAN was recognised in the Social Impact category for BANDAS, designed by Patricia Urquiola. The collection’s ingenious modular system, based on textile bands connected by velcro, allows endless configurations of rugs, seats and poufs. Beyond flexibility, Bandas stands as a powerful example of how design can merge creativity, craftsmanship and social responsibility.

NINA LOUNGE Chair | Patricia Urquiola | ANDREU WORLD

The collection successfully brings the elegance and comfort of high-end interior furniture into outdoor contexts — a key trend shaping premium outdoor design today.

A Clear Signal to the Global Market

Together, these awards send a clear message to international buyers, specifiers and design professionals: Spanish brands are not only responding to global trends — they are shaping them. With a strong focus on sustainability, craftsmanship, adaptability and emotional value, Spanish design continues to offer solutions that perform technically while engaging culturally and aesthetically.

As the year comes to a close, the second half of 2025 confirms what the first already suggested: Spanish design is not defined by isolated achievements, but by a consistent, evolving excellence recognised worldwide.
