Spanish Design Triumphs at the World’s Most Demanding International Competitions

July 8 / 2025

The first half of 2025 has once again confirmed the creative leadership of Spain’s furniture sector. Our companies have garnered an impressive array of international accolades spanning from the German Design Awards to the prestigious NeoCon in Chicago, via the iF Design Awards in Berlin.

A shower of honours that celebrates not only excellence in design, but also recognises our brands’ commitment to innovation, sustainability and social responsibility. From Valencia to the world, Spanish talent continues to set trends.

German Design Award 2025: The Elegance of Rattan Reimagined

The German Design Awards, which recognise outstanding products and projects in German and international design, distinguished EXPORMIM in the “Excellent Product Design Furniture” category with its LOOP chair. A project that demonstrates how artisanal tradition can engage perfectly with contemporary design. Developed alongside the prestigious Danish studio Norm Architects, this piece stands out for its formal honesty and capacity to maintain the essence of rattan whilst embracing sophisticated minimalism.

NeoCon 2025: ANDREU WORLD sweeps Chicago

The NeoCon Awards, held annually in Chicago during North America’s most important contract furniture fair, recognise excellence in design, innovation and functionality in the sector. The Valencian firm ANDREU WORLD has delivered one of the most brilliant performances in the recent history of these awards, with nine accolades that consolidate its status as a global reference in luxury contract design.

The five Gold Awards speak for themselves: the VELO Chair by Benjamin Hubert conquered the Ergonomic Desk/Task Seating category, redefining the ergonomic office chair; the NINA Lounge Chair by Patricia Urquiola shone in Sofas & Lounge Seating, elevating the lounge sofa concept to another dimension; the BRANDY Barstool by Lievore Altherr Molina dominated the Seating: Stools category, demonstrating that even a stool can be an iconic piece; the GARZETTA Table by Afteroom claimed gold in Occasional Tables, confirming that minimalism remains synonymous with timeless elegance; and the BOLETE Lounge Outdoor Collection by Urquiola triumphed in Outdoor Seating, confirming the growing sophistication of outdoor furniture.

The three Silver Awards completed the performance: NEXT Executive Chair by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga in Conference Seating, BOLETE Armchair by Urquiola in Guest Seating and BOLETE LOUNGE Outdoor Table also by Urquiola in Outdoor Tables. The VALENCIA Stool by Patricia Urquiola closed the harvest with the Sustainability Award, recognising the commitment to responsible design.

HiP Award 2025: Innovation recognised at the heart of contract

Also in Chicago, during NeoCon, Spanish design shone once again at the HiP Awards. This prestigious accolade, granted by Interior Design magazine, recognises the year’s most innovative solutions in workplace design.

KRISKADECOR obtained the HiP Award 2025 with its KHRONOS Collection, designed by Rafa Ortega, in the Workplace: Partitions & Wall Systems category, demonstrating how spatial solutions can become authentic design objects.

Local commitment, global recognition

The sector doesn’t forget its roots. The Medal of Gratitude awarded by the Valencia City Council to VICCARBE, VOOLCAN Grupo, and MONRABAL CHIRIVELLA following the Campanar fire demonstrates that Spanish furniture companies combine international projection with local social responsibility.

The second half of the year looks equally promising. With this momentum, Spanish design continues to write a success story that transcends borders and confirms that, in the furniture sector, Spain isn’t merely present in the global conversation: it’s leading it.

What’s next? Stay tuned.
